Getting Involved

Social Apostolate / Homeless Project

We are appealing for donations towards our project, which feeds needy people and homeless Monday to Wednesday every lunchtime, and provides other assistance where necessary.

We give out: clothes, books, toiletries, simple medical supplies (painkillers, dressings, bandages, etc.) and we provide first-aid

We cooperate with several centres: –TPP in London (Relief Society for Poles – Coronavirus); the Polish Embassy in London;  PEEK Family Center and HOPEC– with help in completing the settlement status and other documents and support, and arranging with a GP; AKWAABA(help with winter clothes); Hackney drug & alcohol WDP (City & Hackney Recovery Service): food from The Felix Project as well as two Polish stores. We are helped by All People All Places (APAP) Muswell Hill – 24-hour assistance centre, if there is a need for accommodation or any support, we contact them.

Any monetary donation goes directly to help with the Homeless Project.

Altar Servers

Serving is a privilege and a wonderful opportunity – and all youth in the Parish are invited to get involved. The parish’s Guild was affiliated to the Archconfraternity of St. Stephen on 1 January 1945 and has been encouraging reverence, regularity and understanding among altar servers ever since. Membership is open to men and women, boys and girls, who have made their First Holy Communion and wish to serve God and His Church at the Altar. Children who would like to start serving begin a period of six months probation, normally after making their First Holy Communion, before being enrolled into the Guild.

Legion of Mary

The Legion began as a lay apostolate in Dublin in 1921 and now has over a million members world-wide.  It meets at St Ignatius presbytery for about one and a quarter hours on Wednesdays at 7.00pm. The weekly prayers include saying the rosary, and work is assigned to members to be done in the following week.  Our work includes visiting the sick and housebound, especially those in sheltered accommodation and visiting anyone who requests prayer and rosary.  We also carry Our Lady’s statue to parishioners’ houses.
